Each Wednesday morning, as I walk from my office to the Pervin Chapel for the morning minyan, I smile as I walk around the 24 backpacks of our Minyan Makers who join us from Community Day School. It is energizing to see these young adults who along with our members create a group of close to forty people. Following the morning service, both the students and minyanaires are treated to a hearty breakfast before heading off to school. I invite you to come and see this for yourself!
The Pervin Chapel has become a more welcoming space for worship as we now are conducting services and reading Torah from in front of the bimah, on floor level. We are able to welcome service participants in a more friendly spirit, including those who may have trouble with steps or are using a wheelchair.
Rabbi Myers’ sermons are helpful in a difficult world, and I always look forward to reading “Thoughts From Rabbi Myers” sent by email each Wednesday. Please feel free to forward the Rabbi’s words to friends, colleagues and neighbors who too, will enjoy his insights.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already December and time to plan for end of year contributions. All contributions received by December 31, 2017 will appear on your end of year tax letter. Consider a synagogue membership for a creative Chanukah gift that may well represent a life time gift!
